How To: Use BUTT (Broadcast Using This Tool)

Select the desired app from the list on the page.

Select the desired download for your operating system (avoid clicking ads that imply they are the download location/source).

Download BUTT to your computer from the link at the top of the article, and open it. The installation is fairly straightforward. Click Next through the installer, and Install on the final step.

Note: Butt contains in-depth documentation that will open immediately upon installation. The below guidance is simplified content to get started. For more in depth information, or to troubleshoot issues consult this documentation.

Setup Butt

To set up BUTT on your computer you will need your stream server name, mount point, username, and password.  For this demo we will use the following details:

Stream Server: icecast.aleph-com.net (This is the default but yours might be different)

Mount Point: /123456

Username: source

Password: Passw0rd!

  1. Click on Settings and then Add.

  2. Provide the server details.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Select the Audio tab and enter the information as shown.  For the moment, select MP3 for the Codec,  but AAC+ will be available in the near future.

  5. Return to the Main tab and save settings.  You are now ready to start streaming.
